Wellesley Food Pantry would like to thank all 14 cyclists who participated in the Ride for Food, raising more than $16,000 to directly benefit the organizations and its clients. WPS would also like to thank all of the people who so generously donated to the team to make it possible; they are grateful to have such a supportive community.
This fundraiser is the pantry’s largest and most important financial intake of the year, enabling it to stock shelves with a wider array of more nutritious food options. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 13 at the team’s Ride for Food website, http://ift.tt/2fOD1dr.
The food pantry, which only serves town residents, also requests the public’s continuing support to ensure it has adequate resources to offer healthy options for food security to clients. Drop-in donations are accepted, as the pantry is not eligible for any public funding.
Food items needed this week: Dinty Moore beef stew, canned pasta, pasta/spaghetti and cooking oil.
Non-food items needed this week: Laundry detergent and diapers in sizes 3-4-5.
The pantry has collection bins at both Whole Foods Market and Roche Bros. Low-sodium and sugar-free items are always welcome.
The Wellesley Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 207 Washington St. in the basement of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church. Donations may be dropped off at the pantry between 9 and 10:15 a.m. Mondays.
