One woman was killed and another hospitalized after a vehicle hit people waiting in line at a Stafford food pantry late Monday morning.
People were lining up at the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry on Stafford Run.
An older woman was trying to park shortly before 11 a.m. but apparently jumped the curb and struck two women in line, according to Stafford police.
One woman died on the scene while the other was transported with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release. The driver was also taken to the hospital to treat stress brought on by the crash.
"We're not filing any charges right now," Stafford police Capt. Patrick Herman told the Chronicle. "It just looks like an accident."
Herman said police will identify the victims once relatives have been notified.
The food pantry's website says its mission is "to address the basic human needs of persons in temporary financial crisis in East Fort Bend County."
