Sargento donates $17000 to Paul's Pantry - WBAY

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Green Bay Packers, Sargento Foods and Paul’s Pantry are celebrating 14 successful seasons of “Touchdowns for Charity.”

As part of that celebration, Packers tight end Jared Cook and Sargento Foods presented a check for $17,000 to the food pantry Tuesday.

As the “official cheese of the Green Bay Packers,” Sargento donates $500 to Paul’s Pantry for every touchdown scored by the green and gold during the regular season. That money is used to buy fresh food for people in need.

“We rely on donations for foods, funds and volunteers for everything we do. We don’t receive any federal, state or local tax revenue whatsoever, so this is a very important program to us,” Paul’s Pantry director Chris Robbins said.

“We get to do what we love by scoring touchdowns, and in turn Paul’s Pantry benefits, the people of Brown County benefit,” Cook said.

During the Touchdowns for Charity drive last month at Lambeau Field, Sargento raised nearly $1,300 and collected more than 1,500 pounds of food.

After presenting the check, Cook also signed autographs for volunteers.
