Empty Pantry deliveries made Sunday, donations still needed - Maryville Daily Times
In 1952, the Empty Pantry Fund was started by several Blount Countians with a heart for feeding the hungry at Christmas. Ever since that time, the project has been supported by the Blount County Jaycees and The Daily Times as well as numerous organizations and individuals.
One of EPF’s staunchest supporters was Daily Times Editor Emeritus Dean Stone, who passed away Oct. 10 at age 92. EPF President Lon Fox recalled Stone’s concern each year about meeting the goal of providing food baskets to Blount County’s needy.
