The 'Pack the Pantry' Food Drive is coming to an end.

Schools that have been collecting canned food items begin delivering them to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.

Bellaire Elementary in Bossier, last year's winner in the elementary school division, had its canned goods picked up by 2 Guys Moving from Bossier.

The school was able to collect well over 5100 cans during the food drive.

Organizers say taking part in the Pack the Pantry food drive is worth the effort.

"These kids, we are just a very small. We've only really done this ,this year for three weeks and we've collected.. the last count we had was close to 52-hundred cans. So to me that's a wonderful thing" said Jennifer Konnovitch.

All the food collected since the food drive began must be turned dropped off at the Food Bank on Wednesday.

Weigh ins will  be conducted on Friday to see who wins.

A $1000 prize goes to the school that collects the most food.

$750 for second place and $500 for third.
