Get involved: Empty Pantry Fund kicks off today - Maryville Daily Times
The Empty Pantry Fund, a Blount County project providing food baskets to needy residents at Christmas since 1952, kicks off its 2016 campaign today with a beginning balance of $23,147.41.
The goal of providing much-needed relief at the holidays to underprivileged families hasn’t changed, but the process of making it happen continues to be fine-tuned using today’s available technology. From a newly revamped website and Facebook page, to reminder texts for volunteers, online databases to collect and store recipient information and accepting donations by credit card on Paypal, the 64-year-old charity is definitely keeping up with the times.
