Bridgeport mobile food pantry adds additional date in August - CTPost

BRIDGEPORT — City residents looking for free, fresh produce can visit the mobile food pantry at St. Vincent’s Friday afternoon.

The food pantry will be open from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the medical center parking lot, 2800 Main St.

Normally the food pantry operates on the fourth Friday of every month, but the Connecticut Food Bank is sponsoring an additional date.

This is the first year the service is being offered in Bridgeport, made possible by a $25,000 donation from St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation, according to Edna Borchetta, a spokesperson for the hospital.

There will be a wide variety of nutritious foods available, including kale, potatoes, broccoli, bagged salads, yogurt, whole grain chips, herb sauce and Honest Tea.

Residents planning to go should bring reusable grocery bags.

The food pantry will still be open on its regularly scheduled date, Aug. 23, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
