Want to help fill a picnic basket for a hungry family? Hall Township Food Pantry is looking for donors to help with the second Summer Picnic giveaway. The distribution offers pantry clients the opportunity to eat picnic food for the Fourth of July holiday — such as hamburgers and hot dogs. Last year the pantry served 200 families (more than 680 individuals) and they anticipate a bigger crowd this year. But the pantry needs donations to help fill the picnic baskets. Donations to sponsor a basket are $20.
“The more donations we receive, the more items we will be able to include in our picnic boxes,” the pantry said.
Distribution will take place from 10 a.m.-noon and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at the food pantry. If interested in helping, donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Hall Township Food Pantry at 500 N. Terry St., Spring Valley, IL 61362.
