AUGUSTA, Maine. (WABI) - A pantry in Augusta will be open more hours.
Bridging The Gap is a Community Resource Center that provides a safe place for individuals seeking care
In that program is an "Everyday Basics Essentials Pantry" that provides health items to folks in need.
We're told Basic Essentials will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 2 and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month opening at 10 a.m.
Theyre located on Eastern Ave in Augusta.
We spoke with the director of Bridging The Gap who said some of the items they provide can be costly.
Director of Bridging the Gap, Sarah Miller, said, "Someone who might not have a lot of money to have to make a decision between paying the rent or turning on the ac or buying diapers, that's a hard decision to make, so there's a whole lot of individuals that come here to receive items like diapers, toothpaste, toilet paper, every month that just assists them to keep a stable existence."
We're told the pantry relies heavily on donations.
