The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a check for $20,000 to Feeding South Dakota to provide support for the Mobile Food Pantry, it was announced in a news release. The mobile unit operates out of the Charles H. Burke Center for Hunger Relief in Pierre and last fiscal year distributed over 540,000 pounds of food, primarily in central South Dakota. It provides hunger relief in counties with food insecurity rates as high as one in four adults and one in three children. The SDCF grant will allow the Mobile Food Pantry to deliver 80,000 healthy meals in rural areas that would otherwise go without food.
