Sunset Foods and the Moraine Township food pantry will host a holiday food drive Dec. 1-3, at the store, 1812 Green Bay Road, Highland Park.
Shoppers will be asked to add $10, $25 or $50 to their bill as a contribution to the food pantry. Customers added more than $12,000 to their grocery bills last year.
One out of every four elementary students in Highland Park and Highwood qualify for the federal free/reduced lunch program at their school, according to the township, and pantry use has increased in recent years. The pantry at 777 Central Ave., Highland Park, is open to income-qualified Moraine Township residents from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and by appointment.
