Upcoming Zombie Walk is a fundraiser for local food pantry - Cache Valley Daily

What do you get when hundreds of zombies gather together for a walk down historic Main Street in Logan on Friday, October 27? Hopefully, a lot of food for the Cache Community Food Pantry.

The annual event is in its 7th year and will begin at 6 p.m. Gary Saxton, manager of the Logan Downtown Alliance, says participants dressed as zombies (or perhaps zombie hunters) will gather at the intersection of Church Street and Federal Avenue in downtown Logan.

Every zombie onlooker is encouraged to bring one or more non-perishable food item to support the Cache Community Food Pantry.

Saxton says Matt Whittaker and his helpers from the food pantry will be there at the beginning to pick up what is expected to be hundreds of pounds of food.

"The zombies just kind of roam through downtown," Saxton explains, "to The Factory Pizzeria, where we treat all the participants to a pizza dinner. It's a fun event and it's on Friday, October 27th."

Saxton says only costumed zombies and zombie hunters will be served. He says a great turnout is expected to support the Cache Community Food Pantry.
