Ohio man arrested in connection with Village Pantry robberies - The Herald Bulletin

ANDERSON — Police have arrested a 32-year-old Ohio man in connection with two armed robberies at the downtown Village Pantry store on Central Avenue this week, said Anderson Police Spokesman Maj. Joel Sandefur.

Preliminary charges of Level 3 felony robbery, Level 3 felony criminal confinement, and Class A misdemeanor pointing a firearm were filed against Eric T. Henson, although the Madison County Prosecutor's Office may file additional charges.

A patrol officer driving eastbound on 14th Street about 8 p.m. Thursday saw a man carrying what appeared to be a handgun, pull a mask down to cover his face and run into the store toward the clerk, Sandefur said.

The officer called for backup and the man, subsequently identified as Henson, emerged from the store with an undisclosed amount of money and surrendered without incident. The weapon Henson allegedly brandished was a BB gun. The store clerk and a customer in the store were not injured.

During questioning, Henson allegedly told police he was the man responsible for a similar armed robbery at the same store on Tuesday morning about 6 a.m., Sandefur said.
