BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- The Baldwinsville Rotary 5K Run/Walk for Hunger will be held on Nov. 12 to raise money to support the Baldwinsville Community Food Pantry.

The 3.1-mile run or walk will be held at 10 a.m. at C.W. Baker High School, 29 East Oneida St., Baldwinsville.

The Baldwinsville Community Food Pantry, which based out of the First United Methodist Church, serves as many as 27,000 meals per year and up to 170 families each month.

Baldwinsville Rotary frequently donates money to other organizations in the community. Its continued support to the food pantry is due to the level of need that exists in the Baldwinsville community.

The food pantry gave out more 4,500 meals just in August.

"It is clear that supporting this resource in our community is going to fill a big need," said Baldwinsville Rotarian and 5K committee chairperson Charlie Farrell in a news release.

Last year's Baldwinsville Rotary 5K Run/Walk for Hunger donated $2,000 to the food pantry.

The 5K run/walk will give all participants pizza, hot cocoa and other treats and the first 250 participants to complete the course will receive a finisher medal.

Early registration, which is available online, is $30 or $20 for students. Early packet pick-up will be at Canal Walk Café, 23 Syracuse Street in Baldwinsville, from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 11. Race day registration will be available.

Monetary donations and non-perishable food items will be collected on race day. For more information, visit the Baldwinsville Rotary website.
