St. Joseph's Food Pantry uses extra food from Saturday to serve others in need - KGWN

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- St. Joseph’s Food Pantry handed out food to government employees who were furloughed.

On Saturday, they served around 30 families who were affected by the shutdown. The meals they gave out included milk, cheese, eggs, soups, bread and more.

The food pantry was expecting more people to come out and accept the help that they were offering which meant they had plenty of extra. This meant they were able to serve approximately one hundred families who usually come into the pantry with more food than usual.

Instead of simply supplying supplemental food, they were able to give those who come in regularly staple items as well. This included 2lbs. of cheese, 10lbs. of meat, as well as eggs and milk.

They were prepared for more people to show up on Saturday, but the food pantry said it was worth it to help even one family.
