JUNEAU — A 42-year-old Waupun man is accused of stealing money from the Waupun Food Pantry last summer.
Michael J.R. Fiedler is charged with burglary of a building or dwelling. He could face up to a 12½-year prison sentence and a $25,000 fine if convicted.
Fiedler made his initial appearance Monday before Dodge County Court Commissioner Steven Seim, who set a $1,000 signature bond. Fiedler, who is in the Dodge County Jail, is not allowed to have contact or communication with the Waupun Food Pantry.
According to the criminal complaint, the manager of Waupun Food Pantry, 12 S. Mill St., reported the break-in and said she had a suspect because she set out a trail cam in the food pantry. The manager showed police a photo of Fiedler that showed a “Mom” tattoo on his neck.
The manager said the food pantry was not open at the time when the camera showed Fiedler was there on Aug. 13 at 1:43 a.m. According to the criminal complaint, a desk drawer was missing $28. The manager said that several months ago, they also noticed money missing.
Police spoke to Fiedler, who allegedly said that he went to the food pantry to get food for his children and family. Fiedler said he took items from there in the past and admitted to taking the $28.
