VALLEY PARK, MO (KTVI) – Members of The Crossing Churches of the St. Louis area showed off their holiday giving spirit Monday. They donated more than 100 cases of food to Circle of Concern Food Pantry in Valley Park. The food will help feed more than 2,000 people.
"There`s really people out there that are just great, that can help you through anything.' Said Trish Kline, who receives food from Circle of Life Pantry.
That great generosity and help was on display Monday morning as volunteers from St. Louis` The Crossing Churches unloaded donated food at Circle of Concern Food Pantry in Valley Park.
"They will fill our pantry shelves and enable us to feed over 700 families each month and it will sustain us through the winter months." Said Cyndi Miller, Executive Director of Circle of Concern Food Pantry.
Trish Kline`s family is one of hundreds this donation will help.
"If it wasn`t for them, we wouldn`t make it. I`ve got four kids at home. It`s a family of six and they`ve been there through thick and thin,' added Kline.
Circle of Concern helps individuals and families in west St. Louis County who struggle with hunger and poverty. Organizers say single moms with school aged children are often the most in need of help.
"I think it will come as a shock to many to know that Missouri is ranked seventh in the nation for food insecurity and second in the nation for very low food insecurity.' Added Miller.
For Pat Reuther and other members of The Crossing Church, this donation is more than a holiday offering.
"It`s wonderful. Part of our purpose as a church is being able to help and serve others. Being able to do it in such a tangible way is a fulfilling of what Christ calls us to do.' Said Reuther.
