In its effort to raise awareness about its food pantry, UTRGV is celebrating its Second Annual Zombie Walk Food Drive. The event is designed to enable participants to donate canned food to help the community and students who are struggling financially. Students say it's a great way to educate people on the importance of donating food to the less fortunate.

Judith Mendoza, UTRGV Student says, "You don't really think about that on campus. I mean there's always so many people like, 'oh let's go get food.' You don't really think about college kids actually starving on campus. I'm already a sophomore here. I didn't even know what the student food pantry was. I didn't even know it existed. So they let us know that there's a bunch of students on campus that don't eat and can't afford food."

The student food pantry at UTRGV is currently taking donations. If you would like to drop off any canned items, you can do so at the liberal arts building in the Edinburg campus. Monetary donations can also be sent online at give.utrgv.edu
