The Lowville Food Pantry has two new buildings, but can't afford to fully repair them.
Executive director Daniel Taylor says there's still a lot to be done, about three-quarters of it.
Patchwork plumbing, exposed insulation and wall damage are some of the repairs the pantry needs.
It holds an annual auction to raise money and this year it's all going toward fixing up the property.
Taylor doesn't know exactly how much renovations will cost, but estimates it's about $250,000.
"The auctions won't get us anywhere near that,” he said. “We usually raise about a thousand dollars from the auctions, so it's going to be hopefully through donations and through grants that we're applying for."
The new buildings will give the pantry some much-needed room to expand.
"Storage is a big issue with us,” Taylor said. “We're the largest food pantry in Lewis County, we serve over 300 families, so keeping enough food to feed 300 in a small garage just doesn't quite make it."
Food Pantry officials say the renovation process is going to take a few months, but they hope to have it ready by early next year.
