It was a big day for the Floral Heights Community Food Pantry as they accepted the keys for the brand new building.
The Food Pantry had a dedication ceremony to celebrate the new 4 thousand square foot facility. It was built in just 3 days thanks to a "helping hands grant" which is a partnership between Mueller, Inc. and Texas Country Reporter that donate metal buildings to non-profit organizations free of charge.
"It means for the future we can hold more people, we can help more people, we had limited space in our old space, our food was in Sunday school classes. Now we have become a community food pantry so we will definitely serve more people," Ronna Prickett, President, Floral Heights Community Food Pantry
The organization is still responsible for some of the interior at the building so they are applying for grant money to fund that work. They hope to be open next month.
