Collinsville Food Pantry says because more meals are eaten at home in the summer while children are out of school, its shelves are looking a little bare by September.
The pantry hasn’t had a food drive since May and won’t have one again until November. But a silent art auction of pieces created by local artists next month will benefit the pantry.
The art will include paintings, photography, as well as metal, cloth and bead work. Desserts will also be auctioned off during the event and there will be live music. It will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at First United Presbyterian Church Westminster Hall, 201 East Church St. in Collinsville.
The pantry stated on social media that it assists more 250 families, or nearly 500 people, each month.
Anyone interested in donating can drop off items from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesdays. The pantry also accepts monetary donations by mail at 201 East Church St. in Collinsville or by visiting collinsvillefoodpantry.org.
